After spending 2 hours in the backseat of our rental, I believed I'd seen all there is to see of Spain. it was hard to imagine Spain astonishing me more than it already had. But, I was not prepared for the beauty that is Granada.
Granada is known as one of the 'Pearls' of Spain, and well and truly lives up to this title. Commonly referred to as "The Morrish Jewel" it lies in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Andalucía.
While I was there I got to see tons of stunning architecture and witness one of the most intense, passionate dances (twice in one day!) that originates from Granada, the "Flamenco".
Granada is thriving with culture and rich with history. Home to the castle of Alhambra, I took a stroll (which felt like a hike by the end of it) around the area in which the Alhambra lies. You're actually able to go inside and view the castle but unfortunately the tickets sold out before we could get the chance :( Nevertheless, the scenery was gorgeous, filled with breathtaking views of the Alhambra. We even found a cute little ice-cream store to stop at and take in the sights. We made our way through the gypsy markets on our way back to the hotel and I got some henna done. This was a bitter sweet experience as the henna was terrible and a complete rip off, It's the last time I ever get henna anywhere but 'Little India'. I ate my first paella while shopping in the city, They say the paella in Valencia is the best but my standards are quite high after this one! My time in Granada was incredible, it was an honest blast!
